Each day in America, more than 30 million children eat meals in schools. That adds up to more than 2.2 billion breakfasts and over 5 billion lunches served each year!
Our foundation is helping students across the nation gain access to fresh fruits and vegetables in schools in a number of creative ways.
SALAD BARS IN SCHOOLS
As a founding partner of the national Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative, our Foundation has helped facilitate the donation of salad bars to more than 4,500 schools in all 50 States, benefitting nearly 3 million children each day.
School salad bars increase students’ fruit and vegetable consumption, introduce them to a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and help them develop healthier eating habits. Salad bars are an easy way for schools to meet the National School Lunch Program’s new nutrition standards, which require schools to serve an increased amount and variety of colorful fruits and veggies each day.
